Personalized Song

A song built from what you actually remember — read the words, hear it sung, then decide.

overview

Personalized Song writes a song for one specific person out of what you tell it about them. You start with a few sentences — a memory, an in-joke, the thing they always say — or answer a handful of short questions if you're stuck, and the lyrics come back in about half a minute. You read them before anything is recorded: change a line, swap the spoken intro, or ask for a completely new version, all free. Then the same song is sung as two takes for you to compare, and you pay only to keep the one you picked — lossless WAV, MP3, and a private page you can send them.

what it does

  • Written from real memories you supply — nothing invented, no generic filler
  • Read and edit the lyrics before a single note is recorded; rewrites are free
  • Your own words, spoken aloud before the singing starts
  • Hear two finished takes free, then pay to keep one — lossless WAV, MP3, and a private page to send
  • Story first
  • Read the lyrics first
  • Spoken intro

why i built it

Every custom-song site I tried opens the same way: pick one of twenty-four genres. Before I'd said a word about the person I was making it for. Nobody knows what genre their marriage is — the story has to come first, and the music should follow from it. The other thing that kept bothering me is where the effort goes. The singing is what everyone demos, but a song about someone only lands if the words are true, so this is a site that spends its effort on the words: you read them before a single note is recorded, and rewriting is free and unlimited until they're right. Two rules fell out of that. Nothing gets invented — if you never mentioned the laundromat receipt still in your wallet, it isn't in the song, because a made-up detail is worse than a plain one. And nobody pays for a song they haven't heard.
